Our Philosophy

For us, it’s all about the food.

We believe in good food.

We believe that producing good food is the best way to take care of our bodies, our land, and our communities.

We believe that good food is simply one of the best things in life - a pleasure to prepare, easy to enjoy, and best for the body.

We believe that the best food is food raised near where we live by people we know.

We believe that the best food comes from animals raised in a way that allows them to express their natural behaviors.

We believe in sustainability.

We believe that only sustainable practices can produce good food over the long term.

We believe that sustainable ranching means stewardship:  caring for what you have, giving back more than you take, and leaving your place better than you found it.

We believe that stewardship implies active management -  the application of human ingenuity to direct, guide, and influence natural processes to improve the ecosystem for all participants.

We believe that a diverse farm ecosystem is stronger than one that relies on a single crop or species.

We believe that we must be frugal, respecting what we have and using it to its full potential.

We believe in openness and community.

We believe that we must grow and maintain strong, trusting producer-consumer partnerships.

We believe that keeping an open farm & continually educating our consumer-partners about our products fosters strong relationships.

We believe that working with local partners to educate the public about responsible and sustainable land and livestock management benefits our community.

We believe in eating the best quality food that we can afford.

We believe in spending our own food dollars with fellow local producers.

We believe in being the kind of producers we like to buy our own food from.

We believe in practicing what we believe.

After all, it’s all about the food.
